Grow is CHF 79 or CHF 59, Advanced CHF 359 or CHF 269, and Plus is quoted in euros from EUR 2,100 a month. On top of the plan sits the processing fee on every order: 2.95% plus CHF 0.30 on Basic for a standard card, 3.15% plus CHF 0.30 for American Express and international cards, and 1.75% plus CHF 0.30 for TWINT. Klarna is priced at 2.99% plus CHF 0.35. POS Pro costs CHF 69 a month per location. Then come apps, a theme, a domain and shipping. A small Swiss store usually lands between CHF 60 and CHF 350 a month before postage. The plan price is the number Shopify advertises. It is rarely the number that leaves your account. This guide adds the lines up in francs, in the order you meet them: the subscription, the fee on every sale, the costs that never appear on the pricing page, and shipping. Every platform figure is dated. They behave very differently as a store grows. **The subscription** is fixed and easy to plan for. It is the only line most people budget. **Processing** is a percentage of everything you sell plus a fixed amount per order. It starts small and becomes your largest Shopify line. **Apps and add-ons** are subscriptions you sign up for yourself, usually in the first two weeks. **Shipping** is not a Shopify charge at all. It still comes out of the same margin, and across the border it comes with paperwork. Only the first line can be read straight off the pricing page. The rest are yours to work out. ## Plan prices in francs Shopify plans, pricing and features change; always verify the current details on shopify.com before deciding. The Swiss subscription is cheap by international standards. Basic at CHF 29 is roughly a tenth of what Advanced costs, and the gap between plans is where the real decision sits. Plus is quoted in euros on a page that prices everything else in francs. That is Shopify's own presentation, not a conversion made here, and it tells you which currency the enterprise contract is written in. The annual saving is real money and a twelve-month commitment at the same time. On Basic you commit CHF 252 upfront to save CHF 96. Sensible in month six, poor value in week one. ## The trial and the CHF 1 offer The Swiss pricing page advertised three days free and then CHF 1 a month for three months, checked on 10 August 2026. The page is served in German; the figures above are quoted from it directly. The offer does not cover everything. Processing applies to real orders from the first sale, promotion or not. App subscriptions bill at their normal price from day one. Treat those months as build time rather than cheap trading. Swiss card rates are high compared with the euro area, and that is the single most important number in this article. At 2.95% on Basic, a store selling CHF 10,000 a month pays about CHF 295 in processing against CHF 29 in subscription. The fixed CHF 0.30 matters at the low end. On an order of CHF 15 it is 2% of the sale on its own, on top of the percentage. Small average baskets are expensive to process everywhere, and more so here. Klarna sits at one flat rate across the three plans. Moving up a plan lowers your card rates but not your Klarna rate, which quietly changes the plan maths for stores whose customers pay in instalments. ## TWINT is the cheapest line in the Swiss table TWINT is priced at 1.75% plus CHF 0.30 on Basic, well below the 2.95% standard card rate. That is a difference of 1.2 percentage points on every order that moves from a card to TWINT. Work it through on a real month. A store selling CHF 20,000 pays CHF 590 in percentage terms on cards and CHF 350 on TWINT. Shifting half the volume saves roughly CHF 120 a month, which is more than four Basic subscriptions. That makes payment-method mix a cost lever, not a design preference. If TWINT is available to you, putting it where customers see it is worth more than most plan upgrades. One honest limit. Whether you can switch TWINT on, and what your provider requires, is not something this guide can confirm. Shopify's documentation states that local payment methods need separate activation, unlike card payments. Check your own **Settings › Payments** before you promise TWINT anywhere on the storefront. ## A third-party gateway costs more, not less Use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments and Shopify adds a surcharge on top of that provider's own fees: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus, checked on 10 August 2026. Consider the size of that on Basic. A 2% surcharge on top of an acquirer's own rate lands you near, or above, the 2.95% you were avoiding. The gateway has to be materially cheaper, or solve something nothing else solves, before the arithmetic works. Shopify's Help Centre is specific about the exemptions: orders processed through Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, Shop Pay Installments and Paypal Express carry no third-party transaction fee. Manual methods such as cash, cash on delivery and bank transfer carry no transaction fee either. That last exemption is worth a thought in Switzerland, where invoice and bank transfer are still ordinary ways for a business customer to pay. ## Selling in a physical shop as well Many Swiss Shopify stores start behind a counter, and the pricing page treats that separately. **POS Pro costs CHF 69 a month per location**, checked on 10 August 2026. That is per location, so two shops mean two subscriptions, and it sits on top of your plan. Here is a gap worth knowing about. The Swiss pricing page does not publish separate in-person card rates the way several other country pages do. It prices online cards, TWINT and Klarna, and lists POS Pro as an add-on. What you would pay on a physical card terminal is not stated there, so ask before you plan a shop around it. ## The costs that are not on the pricing page Four lines surprise people, roughly in the order they arrive. **A theme, if you buy one.** Shopify's theme store lists free themes alongside paid ones. The browse page we read on 10 August 2026 showed prices without stating a currency, so check the amount at checkout. A paid theme is a one-off purchase for one store, not a subscription, and the free themes are enough to launch with. **Apps.** Shopify publishes no typical monthly figure and neither will this guide. What can be said is how the total escapes: each app looks small on its own and nothing in the admin adds them up for you. Keep the list in a spreadsheet in francs and review it monthly. **A domain.** A `.ch` domain tells a Swiss shopper the store is here. That is registrar pricing rather than a Shopify figure, and it is billed yearly. **Marketplace syncing.** The Swiss page states that 50 synchronised marketplace orders a month are included. Beyond that the charge is 1% up to CHF 99 a month, checked on 10 August 2026. Irrelevant if you only sell through your own store. One more line, easy to miss: Shopify's documentation describes a currency conversion fee built into the price a customer sees, stated as either 1.5% or 2% depending on where the store is based. Long enough to load real products and price real parcels. *(affiliate link)* ## Shipping, and what the border adds Shipping usually costs a Swiss store more per month than Shopify does, and no article can price it for you. Swiss Post publishes its own business rates, and those change on its schedule rather than ours. Domestic parcels within Switzerland are the straightforward part. - Swiss Post, business parcels: https://www.post.ch/en/sending-parcels - Swiss Post, business customer prices: https://www.post.ch/en/business-solutions The border is the part imported advice misses. Switzerland is outside the EU customs union, so an order going to Germany or France is an export and needs a customs declaration. That adds a handling charge from your carrier, and it can add import charges the customer pays on arrival. That has two consequences for your costs. Cross-border orders are more expensive to fulfil than the postage line suggests. And a customer who pays unexpected charges at the door often becomes a return, which costs you the parcel twice. Price your three most common destinations, one domestic and two across the border, before you set a flat rate or a free-shipping threshold. ## Does MWST change the arithmetic? This section is general orientation, not tax advice. The Federal Tax Administration (ESTV/AFC) and your own fiduciary decide what applies to your business. There are two questions here, and they get mixed up constantly. **What Shopify charges you** is a business cost. How it is treated in your accounts is a conversation with your fiduciary. **What you charge customers** is what changes your pricing. Swiss shoppers expect the price on the product page to be the price they pay. Once your store is registered for MWST/TVA, part of every sale is no longer yours. The consequence is easy to get wrong. Set prices before registration, leave them unchanged afterwards, and you have cut your own margin. Substitute your own. Shipping is excluded from all three, because it depends on where the parcels go.

**The side project.** Basic billed monthly at CHF 29, with 20 orders averaging CHF 60. That is CHF 1,200 in sales, so 2.95% is CHF 35.40 and the fixed component adds CHF 6. About **CHF 70 a month**, and the subscription is under half of it. **The growing store.** Basic at CHF 29, 100 orders averaging CHF 70, so CHF 7,000 in sales. Processing is CHF 206.50 plus CHF 30, and a modest app stack at CHF 50 lands the month near **CHF 316**. Processing is now eight times the subscription. **The established store.** Grow at CHF 79, 400 orders averaging CHF 75, so CHF 30,000 in sales. Processing at 2.75% is CHF 825 plus CHF 120, apps CHF 100, and the total is about **CHF 1,124**. The subscription is 7% of the bill. Read the shape rather than the totals. In Switzerland the plan you choose stops mattering quickly, and the payment mix at your checkout starts mattering a great deal. ## What we would actually do Four decisions, in the order you face them. **Start on Basic, billed monthly.** The CHF 8 a month you save annually is not worth twelve months of commitment to a store you have run for a fortnight. **Make TWINT visible if it is available to you.** At 1.75% against 2.95%, payment mix is the biggest cost lever a Swiss store has. **Use Shopify Payments unless you have a specific reason not to.** On Basic the third-party surcharge alone approaches the card rate you were trying to avoid. **Move up a plan on arithmetic, not ambition.** Going from Basic to Grow costs CHF 50 more a month and saves 0.2 percentage points on cards. That pays for itself somewhere above CHF 25,000 a month in card sales, and not before. This is an independent educational site. Basic costs CHF 29 a month billed monthly, per Shopify's Swiss pricing page checked on 10 August 2026, which is modest. A standard online card sale on that plan costs 2.95% plus CHF 0.30, which is high compared with euro-area rates. For most Swiss stores, what Shopify costs is decided by how customers pay rather than by which plan is chosen. ### How much does Shopify take per sale in Switzerland? On Basic a standard card costs 2.95% plus CHF 0.30, and American Express or an international card costs 3.15% plus CHF 0.30. TWINT is 1.75% plus CHF 0.30 and Klarna 2.99% plus CHF 0.35, checked on 10 August 2026. Grow and Advanced reduce the card and TWINT rates but not the Klarna rate. A third-party gateway adds 2%, 1% or 0.6% on top of that provider's own fees. ### What does a Shopify store cost per year in Switzerland? On Basic the subscription alone is CHF 252 a year billed annually, or CHF 348 billed monthly. That is not the bill. For the growing store modelled above, Shopify and apps come to roughly CHF 3,800 a year with shipping still on top. Processing, apps, a domain and postage all scale with the store; the plan does not. ### Can I pay Shopify in Swiss francs? The Swiss pricing page quotes francs, and Plus is quoted in euros on the same page. Shopify's Help Centre billing overview lists subscription charges in euros, British pounds, US dollars and Indian rupees. Those two statements are not reconciled anywhere we could find, so check the currency on your first invoice rather than assuming. ### Is there a free Shopify plan? No. The Swiss page advertises three days free and then CHF 1 a month for three months, checked on 10 August 2026. That is a trial followed by a promotion, not a free tier. Processing applies to real orders throughout, and apps bill normally during the promotional months. ### Does selling into the EU cost me more? Yes, in two places. International cards cost 3.15% plus CHF 0.30 on Basic rather than 2.95%. And every parcel leaving Switzerland is an export that needs a customs declaration, which adds carrier handling and can add charges your customer pays on delivery.
