ShipX monthly cost for Swiss Shopify stores
ShipX costs USD 9.99 to 34.99 monthly for Swiss Shopify stores. This guide converts to CHF, calculates break-even parcel volume, and says when not to install.

ShipX (Shipeasy) Shipping
The short version: ShipX, formerly Shipeasy, calculates shipping rates at your Shopify checkout using rules like weight, cart value, postcode and product. It returns a rate to the buyer based on their zone, basket, or the item shipped. On its App Store listing, checked on 1 September 2026, ShipX offers four tiers: Free, Starter at $9.99, Smart at $24.99, and Premium at $34.99 a month.
These are billed in USD every 30 days with a 14-day trial and 10% off annual billing. The monthly fee is a convenience tax unless the carrier saving covers it — and the listing publishes no Swiss carrier rates. Swiss Post economy parcels up to 2 kg cost CHF 9.00 from January 2026. Swiss Post also grants an online discount of CHF 1.50 per parcel, according to its 2026 price announcement. This guide gives you the break-even formula and the carriers ShipX actually supports.
ShipX sits in the Shopify App Store under shipping. It is not a carrier and not a fulfilment service. It is a rate-calculation engine that reads your rules and returns a price at checkout. For a Swiss store, the question is whether the monthly subscription earns its place in your cost stack.
If you are starting from scratch, our Shopify Switzerland setup guide covers the platform basics. This page assumes you have a store and are evaluating one app. For the broader bill, see what Shopify costs in Switzerland.
The Federal Statistical Office (FSO/BFS) tracks e-commerce adoption in Switzerland, and more stores are adding shipping apps. That trend does not change the per-parcel maths for one app.
What ShipX costs per month in Swiss francs
ShipX publishes four tiers on its App Store listing, checked on 1 September 2026:
| Tier | Monthly price (USD) | Annual (USD/month, -10%) | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | None |
| Starter | $9.99 | ~$8.99 | 14 days |
| Smart | $24.99 | ~$22.49 | 14 days |
| Premium | $34.99 | ~$31.49 | 14 days |
All prices are in USD, billed every 30 days. Annual billing reduces each paid tier by 10%. The 14-day trial applies to paid tiers. The annual figures are our arithmetic from the -10% note on the listing.
The currency gap matters. Shopify bills app subscriptions in USD, not in CHF. Your bank applies its exchange rate plus any foreign-currency fee your card charges. At a rough rate of CHF 0.88 per dollar, Starter costs about CHF 9 before card fees, Smart about CHF 22, and Premium about CHF 31. These are not the numbers on your invoice. They are the numbers that leave your account. Prices can change; the listing is authoritative.
If your store is MWST-registered, the input tax on the app subscription may be reclaimable. The Federal Tax Administration (ESTV) sets the MWST registration threshold at CHF 100,000 of annual worldwide turnover from taxable and exempt supplies, effective since 1 January 2018. Below that threshold, you are not registered and the app cost is a straight expense. This is a description, not tax advice.
ShipX is one line on a larger bill. On top of the plan, Shopify charges a transaction fee when you do not use Shopify Payments. For the payment side and current plan prices, see our page on Shopify Payments in Switzerland and the Swiss cost guide.
Calculate your break-even volume before you install
The fee is a convenience tax unless the carrier saving covers it. That sentence is the whole thesis of this guide. If the rate an app shows you is cheaper than booking directly, the difference has to exceed the monthly subscription before the app earns its keep.
The formula is simple.
Break-even parcels per month = monthly fee ÷ per-parcel saving
Take Swiss Post as a reference. Economy parcels up to 2 kg cost CHF 9.00 from 1 January 2026, up from CHF 8.50, according to Swiss Post's 2026 price announcement. Swiss Post offers an online discount of CHF 1.50 per parcel for Priority, Economy and bulky goods consignments. For SMEs, that discount is temporarily increased by 50 centimes to CHF 2.00 during the first six months of 2026.
If ShipX saved you CHF 1.50 per parcel, you would need 21 parcels a month to cover a CHF 31 Premium subscription. At CHF 2.00, the number drops to 16. But ShipX does not publish its Swiss carrier rates. You cannot run this calculation from the listing page. You can only run it during the trial, with your own carrier account connected.
Here is our suggested fill-in template:
ShipX break-even template
Monthly tier in CHF: ______
Per-parcel carrier saving in CHF: ______
Break-even parcels = ____ ÷ ____
Your actual monthly parcels: ______
If actual > break-even, the app pays for itself.
The app's value depends on a number it does not show you until you install it.
Swiss carriers: which ones ShipX actually supports
The "Works with" section of ShipX's App Store listing, checked on 1 September 2026, names: Checkout, Shopify Admin, Australia Post, Canada Post, DHL, FedEx, UPS and USPS. Swiss Post is not on that list. Neither is GLS, nor PostFinance.
For a domestic Swiss store, that gap changes the calculation. Swiss Post is the default carrier for parcels inside Switzerland. If the listing does not document a Swiss Post integration, the app's value at checkout leans on the carriers it does support. Useful for cross-border. Less obvious for a parcel going from Zürich to Genève. Ask the developer about your specific carrier before you pay.
The Baymard Institute found that 39% of users abandoned a checkout due to unexpected costs such as shipping, taxes and fees, in its 2026 research. Accurate rates at checkout matter. But accuracy requires the right carrier connected, and for Swiss domestic parcels, the listing's carrier section does not include the one that matters most.
Cross-border from Switzerland: customs and the EU
Switzerland is not in the EU single market. Every parcel leaving Switzerland for an EU destination is an export. It needs a customs declaration, a commodity code, and a value declaration. ShipX can calculate the shipping rate for that parcel. It does not file the customs declaration for you.
EU-bound consignments can require an EORI number. ShipX does not provide one or manage registrations. ShipX's role ends at the rate shown at checkout; the customs paperwork remains on your side of the border.
This matters for the cost calculation. If you ship cross-border regularly, the time saved on rate calculation has to be weighed against the time still spent on customs forms. The app reduces one part of the workflow but not the other.
The Baymard Institute found that 21% of users abandoned a checkout because delivery was too slow, and 18% because the process felt too difficult, in its 2026 research. For cross-border orders, showing an accurate delivery estimate at checkout depends on having the right carrier rate connected.
The 14-day trial and language support
ShipX offers a 14-day free trial on its paid tiers, according to the App Store listing checked on 1 September 2026. You can connect a carrier account, build shipping rules, and measure the actual per-parcel rate during those two weeks.
That trial is the only way to run the break-even formula with real numbers. The listing does not show Swiss carrier rates. The Free tier carries configure-and-test functionality in a testing mode with support via Zoom, email and chat, according to the same listing.
A shipping app that requires customer accounts at checkout would compound Baymard's finding that 19% of users abandon a forced account creation step. Confirm during the trial, for your specific theme, that ShipX's rate calculation does not push buyers into registration.
When you should NOT install ShipX
Do not install ShipX if you ship only within Switzerland and use Swiss Post as your sole carrier. The listing's carrier section does not include Swiss Post. Swiss Post's own online tools already provide the CHF 1.50 discount per parcel that ShipX would need to beat.
Do not install it if your monthly parcel volume is low. If you ship fewer than 15 parcels a month, even a CHF 2.00 per-parcel saving does not cover the Starter tier at roughly CHF 9. The maths is unforgiving at low volume.
Do not install it if you need customs declaration filing, not just rate calculation. ShipX does not file customs paperwork. The border process remains manual.
And do not install it expecting Swiss franc billing. The subscription is in USD every 30 days. The CHF amount on your statement will vary with the exchange rate.
How to decide: a checklist before you install
This is our suggested check, with the arithmetic spelled out in five steps:
- Convert the tier to CHF. Take the USD price, apply your card's exchange rate and foreign-currency fee. That is your real monthly cost.
- Measure the saving. During the 14-day trial, connect your carrier account and compare ShipX's rate to your direct booking price. Note the per-parcel difference in CHF.
- Run the break-even formula. Divide the monthly cost from step 1 by the per-parcel saving from step 2. If the result is more parcels than you ship in a month, the app costs more than it saves.
- Check the carrier list. Confirm that at least one carrier the listing names is one you actually use for Swiss or cross-border shipping.
- Review the billing cycle. USD every 30 days means the CHF amount changes monthly. Build that variance into your budget.
If you pass all five, install. If you fail step 2 because the carrier you need is not documented, stop. For stores where TWINT is the primary payment method, see our guide on TWINT at a Shopify checkout. The shipping app and the payment method are separate decisions, but both affect what the customer pays.
Frequently asked questions
How much does ShipX cost per month in CHF including MWST?
ShipX bills in USD every 30 days: $9.99 for Starter, $24.99 for Smart, $34.99 for Premium. At a rough rate of CHF 0.88 per dollar plus your card's foreign-currency fee, Starter is about CHF 9, Smart about CHF 22.50, and Premium about CHF 31.50. MWST treatment depends on whether your store is registered; if it is, the app subscription may qualify as input tax. The Free tier costs nothing and covers configuration and testing; the paid tiers add the full rule set.
Does ShipX support Swiss Post, GLS or PostFinance?
The App Store listing's "Works with" section names Checkout, Shopify Admin, Australia Post, Canada Post, DHL, FedEx, UPS and USPS. Swiss Post, GLS and PostFinance are not listed. For domestic Swiss shipping, that limits what the app can price at checkout, which matters for stores shipping primarily within Switzerland. Ask the developer about your carrier before installing.
Is the 14-day trial available for Swiss Shopify stores?
Yes, the trial applies to paid tiers, according to the listing checked on 1 September 2026. The trial is the only reliable way to measure the per-parcel carrier saving, because ShipX does not publish Swiss carrier rates on its listing. Use those two weeks to connect a carrier and run the break-even formula with real numbers. Cancel before day 14 if the numbers do not clear the threshold, and you pay nothing.
Does ShipX handle customs declarations and EORI for cross-border shipping from Switzerland?
No. ShipX calculates the shipping rate at checkout but does not file customs declarations or manage EORI registration. You handle the customs process through the relevant authorities. The app reduces rate-calculation time but leaves the border paperwork on your side. For EU-bound parcels, you will still need a customs invoice, a commodity code, and a declared value regardless of what ShipX displays at checkout.
