Swiss Ecom Guides Shopify guides for Swiss merchants

Shopify, for Switzerland

Recommended apps

A Swiss store carries costs the app listings never mention: three national languages before you have sold anything abroad, customs paperwork the moment a parcel crosses the border, and a currency that is not the euro. The apps below are the ones that address that, plus the handful that are useful anywhere.

Every app is a recurring US-dollar bill on top of your Shopify plan. Three or four of them will outweigh the plan itself, so treat this as a menu to choose two or three items from, not a shopping list.

We have not run each of these for a full year and will not suggest otherwise. The descriptions come from the App Store listing, the developer documentation, and what the app changes in your admin once installed.

The app buttons on this page are affiliate links: install through one and the app developer pays us a commission, at no additional cost to you. The selection is editorial — a place on this page cannot be bought.

  • Languages and currencies

German, French and Italian in one storefront, with currency switching for customers ordering from the EU — the first app most Swiss shops actually need.

  • Conversion

Post-purchase offers on the thank-you page, after payment has cleared, so a second offer cannot jeopardise the first sale.

  • Languages and currencies

Sends visitors to the right language and currency by location, instead of showing a German page to a customer in Lausanne.

  • SEO

Meta titles, alt text and sitemap checks per product — and you need them in each language you publish.

  • Shipping

A branded tracking page covering Swiss Post and the international couriers, in place of forwarding raw carrier links.

  • Consentmo GDPR Compliance

    Data protection

Cookie banner and data requests covering both the revised Swiss FADP and the GDPR you inherit by selling into the EU.

  • Conversion

Frequently-bought-together blocks on the product page and in the cart, kept on the restrained side.

  • Shipping

Shipping rates by weight, postcode or zone — which is what domestic and cross-border pricing needs to be separated.

  • Conversion

Quantity breaks and bundles: volume pricing, value packs and multi-buys on the product page.

  • Conversion

Pre-orders and a back-in-stock waitlist, so a sold-out line keeps selling through a long restock window.

  • Froonze Loyalty & Wishlist

    Accounts and loyalty

Customer accounts with wishlist, store credit and points, in place of the plain default account page.

  • Zendrop

    Sourcing and dropshipping

Dropshipping suppliers with shorter lead times than the default China route — relevant given Swiss customs delays.

App pricing and free tiers change regularly and are billed in US dollars. Check the live App Store listing before installing.
